To enhance travel convenience across Taiwan, the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced on April 10 the upgraded Taiwan PASS Classic Edition, along with three new product options designed to expand travel choices for independent travelers. A limited-time “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” offer is also available, allowing visitors to explore Taiwan’s top attractions at great value.
Since 2024, Taiwan PASS has integrated high-speed rail, Taiwan Railways, four major metro systems, and four popular Taiwan Tourist Shuttle routes. Two classic editions—the High-Speed Rail version for international travelers and the Taiwan Rail version for both domestic and international travelers—have been well received. The latest upgrade enhances QR code boarding for the Sun Moon Lake and Alishan Shuttle lines, adds a new Yilan Tourist Shuttle 3-Day Pass, and includes a one-way ticket for the Alishan Forest Railway, making it easier to visit Alishan, one of The New York Times’ “52 Places to Go in 2025.”
The three new products are:
• Taiwan PASS High-Speed Rail Scenic Edition (NT$2,800, for international travelers)
• Taiwan PASS Taiwan Rail Scenic Edition (NT$2,400, for all travelers)
• Taiwan PASS Easy Go Highlights Edition (NT$1,900, for all travelers)
These passes connect 14 major attractions including Yilan National Center for Traditional Arts, Yehliu Geopark, National Palace Museum (North and South), Taipei Zoo, Miramar Ferris Wheel, National Museum of Natural Science, Cingjing Farm, Sun Moon Lake boat tour, Alishan Forest Recreation Area, Pier-2 Art Center, Hamasen Station, Love River Solar Boat, and Kenting National Forest Recreation Area.
The Easy Go edition also includes a Taiwan Rail 3-Day Pass, Alishan Forest Railway tickets (main and branch lines), admission to Alishan Forest Recreation Area, and car rental vouchers—offering flexible transportation options to explore Taiwan’s top 100 tourism highlights.
Director-General Chou Yung-Hui emphasized that Taiwan PASS integrates major transportation systems to make travel easier. Since its launch last year, over 25,000 passes have been sold, gaining popularity among domestic and international travelers.
The three new editions will go on sale starting April 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with limited “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” offers: 200 sets each for the High-Speed Rail and Taiwan Rail Scenic Editions, and 800 sets for the Easy Go Highlights Edition—available while supplies last.
